A Pile of Dog Bones

“In each of us two natures are at war… the good and the evil. All our lives the fight goes on between them, but one of them must conquer. In our own hands lies the power to choose. What we want most to be we are.” – Dr. Henry Jekyll

Forecasting Frenzy

Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005
Today I saw this article on Yahoo! News. It seems to echo the feelings of this forecast that came out a few days ago. However, a little while ago Joe Bastardi of AccuWeather.com predicted something totally different.

According to AccuWeather.com's chief hurricane forecaster the NorthEast is long overdue for a hurricane. They apparently modeled it after 1938... while the Colorado University guys are talking about El Nina.

Here's my take on the forecasting frenzy, which by the way your only seeing because of last year's record breaking number of hurricanes. I say prepare for the worst. Take the worst case scenario, times it by ten, through in a few marauding bands of Minotaurs, and plan for that. To do any less will be reperpetrating the crime that the citizens of New Orleans fell victim to last year. Unpreparedness.
